Mobile Applications of the Future

Our mobile apps of today are already making life easier for us in ways that we never would have expected. We pay our bills with a tap of our smartphones. Having information at the tips of our fingers when on the go is a luxury we couldn't have dreamt of. Services that use our phone's GPS devices to track our locations are highly sophisticated. But there are a few things that we can hope from the technology of the not too distant future. Let's have a look at some of these.
Payments via SMS
It was Japan's DoCoMO mobile carrier service that actually put the idea of payment via the phone into practice. More than 12 million handsets use mobile we applications that let them use this service today. But we can look forward to being able to send others money using SMS messages. There will come a time when credit cards will become - if not obsolete - old-fashioned, and cash, even more so.
GPS based services
There are a lot of apps already available that provide location-based services, particularly in social networking. Foursquare is one that lets you locate your friends and activities near you. But we look forward to the apps of the future wider uses and across more networks so that we can be in touch with our friends in all social networks at one time.
Mobile browsing
While mobile browsing is not new, there needs to be greater compatibility with all types of phones. Even basic phones without touch screens should be able to give the user access to the web. This is a picture of one of the problems with web app development today. The fact that developers usually target their apps only at iPhones, Androids and Blackberry markets leaves a large community of other platform users isolated. This needs to be changed.
Tracking health via mobile
We can expect that soon our mobile phones will become active measuring devices that will monitor our health. We can expect there will be greater connectivity with health care organizations, and other health-related services. For instance, if you run out of your prescription drugs wouldn't it be good if you could simply order them with a tap of your phone and the pharmacy would deliver them to you when you show them a digital prescription?
Advertising via Mobile
This is not a new field either, but we can look forward to greater investments in mobile advertisings. Mobile application development companies will very likely be seen taking advantage of the huge amounts of money that are already spent on advertising to assist in more sophisticated methods of advertising with their applications.
